A Place That Feels Like Home - A jungle home
On the road and off the road..... It's been many years now, since I left my so called normal life in Sydney. Working in local government, steady income, easy life. But, ultimately ever so slightly soul destroying…Having swapped the security and the so called normal life to follow my heart and my passions. Spending most of my time in different parts of South East Asia since 2012, mostly in India, Bali, Cambodia and Thailand. It has been a mission this year to find somewhere to put some more permanent roots down, to ground myself. As glamorous as it is, the continuous packing and trying to fit all of your life's work, play and everything in between into one decent size bit of luggage is something that is becoming less and less enticing. Makes you realise how easy it is to just accumulate unwanted stuff...
There have been a few twists and turns of course that have bought me to this sacred land. I found myself drawn back to Rishikesh last year, after a 7 year absence. I couldn't wait to dip my toes in sacred mother ganga, I felt such a pull to be near the ganges. However, when I finally made it to the bank of the ganga, my heart was still being pulled somewhere further up the mountain. To my surprise, I shared my feelings with Mohan and he just happened to mention that his family has vacant land further up the mountain and we could go camping and check
it out.

Well, suffice to say I did fall for the place straight away the walk there, the location, the mountain springs. I've had a vision for a very long time, of living off-grid, self sustainably. I didn't particularly think it would be in India, strangely enough. Another thing you become very good at when you are a nomad is non attachment. So again, I feel another layer of trust, to surrender that this has come into my life in divine timing, for how long, who knows. Truly blessed to be able to walk on this sacred earth in the himalayan mountains, and allow the great mystery of this magical journey of life to continue to unfold. HARI OM TAT SAT WAHE GURU.
Introducing Shri Durga Aushadheey Vatika
Shri Durga Aushadheey Vatika loosely translates as ‘medicine garden’. We are passionate about living on and consciously off the land as close to mother nature as possible. We are here to create and share this beautiful land with like-minded souls interested in building a community. Based around organic, yogic and ayurvedic principles. Understanding, mother nature provides all the nourishment and best medicine at our finger tips. This land which is set in the Himalayan mountains, also often referred to as, Shivalik mountains, kingdom of Shiva. We are so blessed to be custodians of this sacred land in the state of North India known as Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand “ which means the land of the Gods."
Get back into the natural rhythms of mother nature, this land is so healing, just BEing here and connecting is medicine for the soul. There is plenty of wildlife to experience and witness, freshwater springs to swim in. Jungle treks, Ganga walks, natural meditation spots.
Jungle style accommodation/camping lifestyle, dome tents are provided as well as essential bedding, bring own sleeping bag is optional. Amazing home cooked Ayurvedic meals personally cooked by Mohan, most of the ingredients sourced directly from the garden to your plate, fresh fresh fresh organic yumminess and goodness.
